NBA Beekeepers Conference 2012 Napier Sunday programme
Written by Paul Jenkin
National Beekeepers’ Association – Hobbyist and Small Beekeepers’ Forum
Sunday 24th June
At the hobbyist and small beekeepers forum there are lots of speakers and practical sessions which include Jim Sim on Tutin, Murray Reid from Asure on where hobbyists fit, Rex Baynes from the Management agency on AFB , Michelle Taylor from Crop and Food about the resistant Varroa journey, John McLean about the pheromones(chemical messages) bees have, Linda Newstrom-Lloyd on planting for bees, and several practical sessions with John Berry. The cost is $60 for members and $70 for non NBA members.
The speakers listed in the Invite sent out were for the main part of the conference on Tuesday and Wednesday (with some less relevant to hobbyists) but the ones listed above are especially designed for the Hobbyists and new beekeepers. Exactly what they will speak on of course is what makes it interesting but be assured it is designed with you guys in mind.
It will be a great day and we are hoping loads of people come and take advantage of it.
If you are wanting to do an AFB recognition course towards your DECA, this is available on the Monday 25th June. Note that there is an AFB AP2 course on the Sunday, but this is a higher level course not applicable to new beekeepers. Registration for these courses are separate from the conference forums (see ** details on the attached invitation).
